Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging period, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from that period of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He rescued four initial break points in a tight final set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
